My cousin says there was an old video game that he and I used to play, but he cant remember the name. I've been trying to find it myself and have been looking for a while, so I thought it might be fun to see if anyone here might happen to know anything about it. I don't remember the game at all, so I am going completely on what my cousin told me he remembered. Clues: Was a first person shooter. Has to be over 10 years old EDIT! Most likely made in the late 90's. Graphics look similar/circa Quake/Quake 2, Half-Life, Unreal. The map/a map was a canyon with a castle in it. Had a "crucifix pistol" (like a pistol in the shape of a cross). Had bipedal bug aliens that were dropped from space ships. That's really all my cousin gave me to go on xD Anyway, who ever finds out the game (has to be confirmed by my cousin), get's a prize!

Edited the OP for the clue about when the game was most likely from.

Nope, certainly not Halo. Should also mention it was a computer game, not console.

It's not Doom but I'll say it anyway

Nah, I know it's not any Doom game.
I'll check with my cousin, I thought it might be Unreal, and told him to check out some pictures see if he thinks that's it.
Slightly off topic, this has given me an idea for a new forum game. I'll post more sometime soon.

I have a similar problem. As a child I used to have a space exploration game on Windows 95, on a minidisc. In it you talked to different NPC researchers and found out new technology and knowledge about space and space travel, ultimate goal being to set up space stations and the such. It was also challenging as you could actually get stuck to some parts if you did not take care in setting up your research things -- I must've been no less than six or seven at the time. I now have attempted to search my mind for this game's name, as I got a fair bit nostalgic over it, but to no avail. I suspect it is a Windows 95 CD game, though probably only available in Finland... sadly.

What style of game was it? Like first person, 3rd person etc?

It wasn't anything like that. It was a 2D game(maybe with 3D elements, so 2.5D), as far as I can remember, where you had an overview of different research hubs. You clicked the research hubs and had different choices, with the research paths branching off. There wasn't any ability to 'conquer' space or any such, but simply to research more and more. There have been several games to the same vein, one about the sea(biology) and one about Finland(just some odd detective thing). I fear it is of finnish origin, perhaps some educational CD, I do not remember.

OK so I did end up finding that game through an unbelievable stroke of luck.

I'll have to ask my cousin, thanks for the suggestions though! I'd forgotten about Prey.

I didn't start gaming until I was like 8 or so. I'm no help for games coming out before 2000.
