Contrary to POM and Wappaw, and now possibly DoF, views that I am a troll, I am actually a serious man. I've kickstarted my YouTube channel after some planning and preparing. Its a small personal project aimed at making amateur history documentaries with more focus on hidden histories. A simple nominal +1 and subscribe could help a lot. My first video covers a largely unknown set of fortifications comparable to the Theodosian Walls of Constantinople. If anyone is interested, take a look and please do give me feedback. www.youtube.com/channel/UCcc3k3LMiEGTbLtmvtif2hw

Hey, this is really interesting. Definitely subscribing.
The Byzantine Empire is a very interesting subject. There's so much to explore in the field of historical politics alone - the Roman Emperors in Constantinople really had to perform miracles in order to survive as an empire.

Thanks fellow defenders!
I am also a big fan of the Byzantines and also the Sassanids and their centuries-long wars with each other.

Ever heard of the hypothetical battle between Chinese troops and a steppe army that had a contingent of Roman legionaries? My second video addresses two theories suggesting that Roman legionaries set foot as far as the edge of China in 36 BCE.

I find it hard to believe that they were 'roman' legions. They may have been adapted units that copied some things from the romans.

I don't think they were actual Romans either. Possible, but extremely unlikely. Probably just some local troops using similar tactics.

They may have been mercenaries from Eastern Europe, goths/visigoths etc. who were known to sell their services as warriors. That would explain the roman influence in tactics, too.
