Interesting.
I have to respect Notch and the others for doing this. As Notch stated, he isn't interested (and never was) in this being such a big deal that it has become (Minecraft), so selling it makes sense. The only thing I don't understand is why sell Mojang, and not just the rights to Minecraft. It may be that it's like a package deal, and they couldn't just sell one without the other, I don't know.
Either way, I don't think it will have any major impact.

Mojang will probably experience the same as Rareware did back in the day. Except this time, no one cares about Mojang, while a lot of people did about Rareware games.

I actually have to respect Notch for having the balls to step down. I'm not entirely sure if I could've been able to do that in his position. Maybe he thought Mojang will be in better hands with Microsoft, what with all the funding. Or maybe he's just a big big Microsoft fan

Whether he likes it or not, the company is huge now, and I think it makes him feel like a CEO rather than a small indie developer. I'm sure that he'll still produce games, but I don't think he'll expand as much as he did with Mojang. Plus, now he has and additional ~2.5 Billion dollars in his pocket, so I be that made him happy.
