Time for some controversy. Let's try and keep this as civil as possible. Personal attacks on fellow members are not wanted here. Everyone is entitled to our own opinion. =)
The internet is currently aflame with the death threats aimed at feminist critic Anita Sarkeesian. This stirred up some controversy among the gaming press of course and now people are saying this is 'the end of gamers'. Well respected game critics like the Escapist's Jim Sterling has made it to some sort of blacklist for anti-SJW's.
That's the entire ordeal summed up in a few sentences. Here is an article for reference:

Now. Let's get discussing.
I personally don't care about either camp. Be it the 'Misogynerds' or the 'Social Justice Warriors'. Which are both laughable labels for ''gamers'''.
I miss the old times of gaming, where it didn't matter that much if you did or didn't game. No one cared about gamers. But it's become such a big form of entertainment for millions of people, that there's entire websites dedicated to gaming news alone.
I like this, don't get me wrong. But boy, a vocal minority has risen up to be rather.. questionable. So to say. Games have been playing with controversy a lot as of recent and I like it personally. To me, games are a form of art or at least creativity, and creativity should have no boundaries, even if it crosses the line of what is 'politically correct' and what is not.
Of course, with this controversy came the critics of 'mainstream media' whom question some design choices in games. This created personalities like Anita Sarkeesian, a feminist media critic and blogger whom is on some sort of crusade against misoginy in games.
Whether she's right or wrong, but the fact that she's received death threats for her latest video is beyond ridiculous. I don't agree with her vision at all, but she does have a right to express her opinion, albeit not to your liking. I'll echo Youtube gaming personality/critic/whatever you want to label him. Totalbiscuit. If you don't like it. Don't. Buy. It.
Not buying something that is against your standards is the best way of preventing it to become a problem. It shows the devs that there's no interest in that sort of stuff and they'll be forced to create other games based on the fact that they'll go out of business otherwise. It's that simple, people.
Furtermore and to finish this off I'd like to link this article from a Forbes contributor called Erik Kain.

"You're all wrong." And I couldn't agree more.
Let me know your opinion on this whole ordeal. Are you on a specific side? Or do you not care about this at all? Or something entirely different?
