Hi folks,
I've recently been thinking, we have a few Vikingr players in our midst (A Warband mod) and was wondering if there were people interested in perhaps joining in a PaD sub-clan for the mod. Vikingr has a good lot of experienced players, thing is, they hate Native. With a passion.
So if there is interest, I'd love to organise some battle-time like events on the main Vikingr server and for us to join Vikingr historical battles. It's a lot of fun when done right. Although. When joining events like these and the Vikingr server at all, I expect people to follow the rules of the server and events. This community is REALLY strict when it comes to their rules, so I do expect us to follow those rules as well.
The rules on Hildileikr (the server) are as followed:
No vigilantism, which means don't revenge TK or teamhit.
No teamhitting, not even at the end of the rounds. I know, it's hard.
Be respectfull, this rule is a lot less strict since, but it doesn't mean you should go all out crying noob towards the guy that kills you.
No unwarranted hiding or other such trollish behaviour, basically, don't run away from a fight when you are the last one alive and don't hide in nooks and crannies. Again, I know it's fun but these guys are allergic to fun. At least most of them.
Now this doesn't mean there is no fun to be had. I found it good practice to play Vikingr, the combat is really slow so you can make your move step by step and plan out attacks. Make a pattern, diverse the pattern and broaden your playstyle. Chat trolling is common, I do it as well, just keep it somewhat civil.
The following factions have cav: Normant and Rus.
Be aware that the rest does not! And Goídil do not have archers either.
Northmen and Engle have archers but no cavalry.
Normant and Rus have everything. Be wary though, this is not an advantage as there is a class limit of 7 players per 1 cavalry for the sake of balance. And some maps do not support cavalry.
Be aware that archers do not get shields and fairly weak weapons. Especially Normant archers, they only get seaxes and you can't block with this and can only chamber with it.
Cavalry is also very weak unless used correctly. Bumping team mates is possible, so you have to be good at manouvering and getting dismounted when bumping into an enemy or team mate is possible or when you get hit by a throwing weapon, you can get dismounted then as well. Needless to say it is a very infantry focussed mod.
Now! To pick a faction;
The factions are as followed;
Northmen, these are the vikings basically.
Rus, these are the eastern slavic tribes.
Goídil, the Gaellic tribes.
Normant, Warriors from Normandy.
Engle, the Anglo Saxons.
People interested, we need as many as we can get!:
- Gadric
- Dante
- Varangian
- Phoenix
- Eigengrau
- Otttiger
- Firelin
- Petee
